Kristine Dandavino, soprano

Kristine DandavinoBorn in Montreal, Kristine Dandavino is amongst Canada’s youngest dramatic sopranos. In 2000, she made her professional debut singing the title role of The Medium by Menotti under Maestra Agnès Grossman in Orford, Québec. In 2002, she performed the roles of Zuleika and First Nymph in the North American premier of Nikola Subic Zrinjski by Zajc with Opera Mississauga. Previous operatic roles include Magda Sorel from Menotti’s The Consul, Dinah from Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Cecilia from Adamo’s Little Women. Her voice is featured in Lois Alba’s book Vocal Rescue.

Recently, she was a guest soloist with the Durham Philharmonic Choir interpreting Bach’s Magnificat, Mendelsohn’s Elijah and Mozart's Exultate Jubilate. Recent performances include the roles of Santuzza from Mascagni’s Cavelleria Rusticana, Dido from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and a Soprano Soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. An avid chamber musician, Ms Dandavino co-founded Music for Muses which specializes in post-romantic and impressionist music.
